If you need any additional information from me, feel free to ask! I appreciate any assistance you can give me, and will be checking in on this thread for replies frequently. I would really like to have it up and running again. I've only had this Laptop for a year, and kept it in very good condition. Am I horribly unlucky when it comes to HDDs and this could be a 2nd failure after only a day's use? Or could it be that my laptop is sabotaging them somehow? (I'm not rough with my laptop in any way, it hasn't fallen or been hit, etc.) Can an HDD ruin a laptop? I've never heard of it happening before, but hardware isn't my strong suit when it comes to computers.

Could it be that I need a different driver for the HDD since it isn't what came with my computer? (Not sure if an HDD needs a driver to function properly)

I've reinstalled my drivers but still to no avail. Simple things like Windows folders go unresponsive with only 10% of my CPU resources being used according to task manager. I can login now, but it still takes roughly 2-3 minutes of loading at the splash screen and it is still quite slow at times. Since I wasn't really losing much besides a few hours of downloads I decided to start over by reinstalling Windows. I attempted to use a system recovery disk, but it didn't fix the problem. Afterwards I couldn't login to Windows and after loading at the splash screen for approximately 2 minutes it would restart automatically. After logging in Windows started installing a program that I believe was called windows sat (I may be wrong) but then after some horrid lag the screen went black and I was forced to restart. I left for the day, so I shut it off.Īfter returning home and turning on my laptop again, start up was only slightly slower than usual.

Today (after downloading updates overnight) I played Battlefield 3 for about 4 hours/some web browsing with my laptop running perfectly fine.

I put it in last night and installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit alone with all of the drivers that came on a disk with my laptop. He told me it didn't even have an hours use and I accepted it thankfully. He ordered it a couple years ago when his laptop had crashed to see if it would fix the problem (it didn't). After my laptop's HDD crashed at the beginning of last month, I finally got a new and better HDD from a friend who wanted to help me out.
